What a cookie does
A cookie is a small item stored by a browser for a website and commonly sent back with later requests. Websites may use cookies for essential functions, preferences, analytics or advertising. Other browser storage mechanisms, including localStorage, work differently but can also retain information between visits.
What this content code uses
| Feature | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Cookies | No cookies are set by the supplied HTML or JavaScript. |
| Persistent browser storage | No localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB draft storage is used. |
| Message preview | Built in the current page from the text you enter. |
| Clipboard | Written only when you choose Copy message and the browser permits it. |
| Text download | A local file is created only when you choose Download text. |
| Analytics and advertising | No analytics or advertising libraries are included. |
The mobile menu and scroll-reveal effects keep temporary state in the current page. They do not require a persistent identifier. Ordinary browser caching of images or stylesheets is separate from a site using cookies to identify visitors.
Hosting and separately managed controls
A hosting or deployment platform may add security features, consent controls or other infrastructure outside these content files. Any such addition should be assessed and disclosed by its operator with the relevant purposes, providers and retention periods. This page does not invent a cookie inventory for services that are not specified in the supplied site.
If a separately managed consent control is displayed on the deployed site, use that control for the choices it describes. The local bicycle-query tool does not depend on optional analytics or advertising consent.
Your browser choices
You can review and remove cookies and site storage through your browser’s privacy or site-settings controls. The precise steps vary by browser. Deleting site data may remove preferences provided by a deployment platform. Blocking optional cookies should not prevent reading these static guides.
Downloaded text files are managed through your device, not a website cookie setting. Clipboard contents are managed by your operating system and any clipboard-history or sync tools you use. Removing cookies does not delete a downloaded file, an email you sent or a clipboard copy.
